Tomorrow’s my three week aliyah anniversary. Happy anniversary me!
The emotions of it all have been running wild and the Jerusalem vibe plays no small factor in the sensory overload which has been a common theme of each day and night so far.
My personal list of accomplishments won’t seem much to you sat in front your screen, but believe you me, locating a box of matches or arranging a new mobile phone contract is exhausting and requires a long break to regain my energy before the next job on the list.
Among the list of firsts, has been my first Israeli haircut. After my hairdresser from London(Michael at Daniel Adams, Belsize Park) turned down my offer of relocating with me, I was forced to find someone else to turn my tresses into something respectable. Given the reputation for pushy Israelis I was more than nervous about this and have been doing lots of market research among the local female population since I arrived. Yaniv on Emek Refaim is now my nbf and I am looking forward to long and beautiful relationship. Sorry Michael, but the whole long distance thing just wasn't going to work for me.
Since these last three weeks have also been a ‘holiday’ of sorts, I have taken the opportunity to get out of town and see some more of this stunning country. So far I have been to Ramat Bet Shemesh (nice but frum), Herzlyia and Tel Aviv (both where I enjoyed breakfast on the beach in the sunshine!) and yesterday, a friend and I took a car and drove to Cesearia for lunch, Haifa for tea and Jaffa for dinner.

Caeseria - in the sunshine
Tomorrow is my first day of school so I must sign off and go and pack my new notepads and eight-pack of highlighters ;)
